My story (O_O)

Hi I’m Milad.

In this blog you can see what I have experienced in England. For my education I had to work as a trainee in a company or school. This year I also could choose to go to England for my work experience. I have never been in England and my English wasn’t that good, so it was quite a challenge for me. I decided to go to England and came here with two other class mates, their also here to improve their English and work experience.

During my stay in England I expect to learn more about the IT that companies and schools use. I want to learn how they manage the network and how they handle the problems. I also want to improve my English.

We are there :)
After a trip that took 6 hours we arrived in Torquay. We are now staying in The Kintyre residence. That’s a student house where students from The Netherlands, Poland, Iran, Spain, France, Australia etc, are staying. All of these students are also here to improve there work experience.

The organization that helps us during our stay in England is called TTPL (The Training Partnership Limited). They provide us the accommodation and the working place. First they had found a company for me where I could go to for my work experience. Unfortunately it was a little bit different than I had expected. Most of the things that I had to do were typing information in an Excel sheet, and sorting files. I talked about this with TTPL and the found me another place.

--Now I am a trainee in Torquay boys Grammar school. In this school I support my IT colleagues with the network, software and computer problems. I’m now helping my colleague Simon with all the computer, software and network problems. Some of the things that we had to do where reinstalling software for some class rooms, replacing pc hardware and fixing some network connections to the pc’s. One of the big things that we had to do was setting up a classroom with pc’s in it. First my colleagues started setting up the tables and the pc’s, after that I helped them with the cabling of the pc’s. We form a good team.

This is the old telescope which is now situated in the IT block of the school

This is the Observatory. It can be used by the children that are interested in science and astronomy

When I was walking around to solve computer problems, I saw how the teachers where teaching the children. It was quite interesting to see that, most of them use a Smart Board to teach. I had never seen a smart board, so it was quite interesting to see that. I also had to install the software for one of the teachers in the school. When I was finished I’d run some tests to see how it responds, it was really fun to work with it.

--You can do al lot of fun stuff in Torquay. There are a lot of bars and clubs in the town centre. There are two bars that are really good. One of them is called Mojo, and the other one is called Mambo. Mojo had every Wednesday jazz evening. We went a few times to it and it was great. We went every Saturday to Mambo.

TTPL had also organized a trip to London. This was my first time in London. It was really busy. We looked around for a few hours. We also went in de London Eye. That was really cool. We where standing in the line for 30 min, and when it was our turn to go in it took 25 min to come down again. When we where at the top my friends took some pictures. They are really good. When you are in London you HAVE to go to the London Eye.

During our trip to London we also went to the Stonehenge. This was also my first time that I had seen the Stonehenge. We had a beautiful view, and the stones where really BIG :). Unfortunately we couldn’t go to close, there was a ceremony busy. (for some reason I can not upload the picture that we have taken)

One of the coolest things that me and my friends have done was going karting. We went to the karting course with my colleges. That was coooooooooooooool. It was my first time. At the beginning I was a little bit nervous but when we started is was great. I can see that my average speed was 37.15 km/h and that I wasn’t finished last.

Here you can see my collegue Simon driving very fast

TTPL also organises other trips trough England. So when you are in England you choose witch trip you like. You can also organise a trip with a few people. If there are more than 6 people you can contact TTPL and say that you want to go to that place in England.

--The people in England are really nice. And the funny thing is that they always say cheers. The people that work for TTPL are very nice. If you have any problems they will make some time for you and help.

--During my stay in England I have learned some new, made up words from my colleague Simon

The words that mean to move something/objects.
Buzz, wazz, houik, wang.

*And one more thing. During my stay in England I have walkt 1080 Kilometers.
*1 Mile = 1.6 Km
*Distance to TBGS is 4.5 miles = 7.2 Km
*15 weeks in Engeland
*15*5= 75 days working, 75*7.2= 540 Km*2= 1080 Km (dame)

Special thanks to:
